BIOGRAPHY

Kenneth Uzoigwe Munachi (b. 1999)

Kenneth Uzoigwe Munachi is a Nigerian-born charcoal and graphite artist whose practice centres on stillness, memory, and identity. Raised in Owerri, Imo State, he developed a strong foundation in observational drawing, which continues to shape his approach to form, restraint, and emotional clarity. His work draws from lived experience, focusing on quiet psychological states and moments of presence that are often overlooked.

His work has been presented in a solo exhibition at Manchester Craft and Design Centre (2025), where his charcoal drawings were noted for their tonal control, emotional restraint, and sustained attention to detail. He has also exhibited with Art Forest Gallery in Nigeria and participated in group exhibitions, including Soul in Motion at Espacio Gallery, London (2025).

Kenneth’s practice has received critical attention from West African media outlets such as The Guardian Nigeria, The Sun, Independent Nigeria, BusinessDay, ThisDay, and Ghana Voice Report. Coverage has often highlighted the consistency of his themes and his ability to convey emotional weight through minimal gesture and carefully controlled use of charcoal.

Alongside his studio practice, he has contributed to broader artistic conversations through workshops, talks, and research presentations. These include Decoding the Ghanaian Art Market (2025) and a comparative study on AI imagery and traditional drawing (2024), delivered at the University of Greater Manchester, where he completed his postgraduate studies.

Now based in the United Kingdom, Kenneth continues to develop a contemporary drawing practice grounded in observation, cultural reflection, and quiet introspection. His work invites viewers to slow down and attend to subtle emotional spaces, where meaning emerges through restraint rather than declaration.
